Telecom subsidiary Gen-i has purchased the Real Time Computing franchise in the Manawatu, Wanganui and Taranaki regions for an undisclosed sum.
The merger was an extension of the existing relationship between the two businesses, said Steve Mills, Gen-i's general manager of New Zealand corporate sales.
Real Time Computing became a Gen-i franchise in 2005, after a longstanding local presence as a Computerland franchise. It has clients in the local government, health, agriculture, corporate and energy sectors.
The RTC franchise, known locally as Gen-i Central and Gen-i Taranaki, employs more than 70 people in New Plymouth, Palmerston North, Wanganui and Hawera.
RTC was placed on the market by its owners. The sale is expected to settle on December 12.
