In Japan's second largest city, last month, we found ourselves cut off from funds because local banks and ATMs would not recognise 4 of our 5 eftpos and credit cards. Our major bank was less than helpful. SBS came through, replied and paid. If Southland goes on as it has begun we have a new power in NZ banking.
